Open Dialogues: Gen QueerZ offers an intimate look at the lives of eight LGBTQ+ students from Generation Z in South Florida. In this thought-provoking film, these young voices share their personal experiences navigating the complexities of identity, acceptance, and allyship in an ever-evolving world. Their stories provide powerful insights into how the next generation is redefining queerness and fighting for their space in the world.
“Having Gen QueerZ included in the Homegrown Doc Block at the Miami Film Festival is incredibly meaningful,” says director Freddy Rodriguez. “This film gives voice to a new generation of queer youth, highlighting their courage and resilience. I’m honored to share their stories with the world.”
The Open Dialogues series has always sought to amplify underrepresented voices, and Gen QueerZ is no exception. This documentary is more than just a film—it’s a call for understanding, solidarity, and acceptance. The series has been praised for its raw, honest portrayal of the LGBTQ+ experience and its ability to foster empathy and connection across communities.
We invite you to join us for this important screening and stay for the discussion that will follow. Gen QueerZ offers not only a powerful cinematic experience but an opportunity to engage with the stories of the next generation of queer activists.
We can’t wait to see you there and share this unforgettable moment with our Miami community!
