On July 17th, over a hundred film lovers and respected South Florida filmmakers convened at the Silverspot Cinema for Filmgate’s July edition of I’m Not Gonna Move to LA! Film Festival. Nine remarkable short narrative projects were shown on the big screen. Malabar by Freddy Rodriguez took the Audience Award for the favorite film that night. And, In a rare double win also took the Judges Award. Judges Kimberly Gaultier, Hans Morgenstern, Leah Sokolowsky, and Jakob Hargrove chose it as the stand out film of the night. Malabar will now compete for the BEST OF NOLA this January against all the winning films from 2019.
